It is used as a building material, as in the case of Chusonji Temple in Hiraizumi, which was built with cypress. Other uses include shipbuilding, civil engineering and sleepers. The bark is used as a fire rope or rope. It is also called Asnaro (Next Generation Cypress), meaning "Tomorrow I will be a Hinoki". It is notable for its antibacterial cypress thiols. It is not found in the same species of cypress.
