This type of wood is called "sakura" in the industry. It is a different species from the cherry blossom tree that blooms in the spring, but its color is a light pink, reminiscent of cherry blossoms. There are also white birches, birch trees, Japanese birch trees, and mizume (Japanese hornbeam) in the same genus.
